“A wonderful restaurant with traditional food and traditional values. Recently celebrated a family birthday where nothing was too much trouble. Diane and staff provided an excellent service, great food, lovely atmosphere and we are looking forward to our next visit; which is already booked!”
“We celebrated my Daughter’s 21st Birthday with a meal for 16, the food was excellent, the service very good. I chose the trout and followed with the Old Spot Pork, beautifully presented and just the right amount. Diana was a wonderful host and was very helpful. What a fabulous way to celebrate a landmark birthday.”
“Perfect service with out any pretension. My parents and I had a lovely relaxed and plentiful 3 course Sunday lunch. We all enjoyed our respective meals (and have very different tastes). The portions were generous, the food of good quality, well cooked and well presented.”
“This was our second visit to the Old Rectory at Colesbourne this time for a Saturday lunch with friends. We were made welcome as though we dined there every week, a warm welcome and ensuring we were comfortable. We ate in the small dining room to the left as you go in the front door. There was a family party celebrating a 90th birthday really a lovely family occasion all round the table from great grandma to grandson. The menu was great starting with the signature Hors d’oeuvre again such a variety of foods from prawns, mackerel, to quiche and salad items a meal in itself. I chose the Gloucester Old Spot Pork beautifully cooked and presented and the taste with a little apple was superb. My friends had the steak dish and were not disappointed either. To spoil myself for a desert I chose the profiteroles in a dark chocolate sauce but there was so much to chose from. Coffee in the garden added the finale of yet another excellent meal at the Old Rectory. We must not forget to book for Christmas or will we be back again before then? The garden and car park are so picturesque with hanging baskets and the most gorgeous roses.
“Lived in Cheltenham all my life and never knew about this place, and found it on Tripadvisor. Tried to book once but were full, so called again with more notice and managed to get a table… so booking in definitely recommended! Weather was lovely so we enjoyed drinks in the beautiful garden beforehand. We ordered from the garden and was taken in the dining room shortly before our starters arrived. The food was great, all cooked freshly with lots of choice. I had sea bass which was lovely and everyone else was very pleased with their meals! We all managed 3 courses and didn’t have one complaint. The staff were very friendly and would do anything to help. A great hidden gem!”
“Thank you so much for making my 70th Birthday so perfect. The food was delicious, especially my ‘special’ cake, and we all enjoyed the occasion and felt that you, and your team ensured a thoroughly successful and happy event. I am sure we will be visiting you again soon! Many thanks.
“Thank you for a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary you hosted for my cousin Daisy and her husband Peter. A refreshing and amazing experience from a seasoned Londoner on a day trip to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The restaurant is well kept, clean and welcoming. The proprietor and staff extremely courteous, welcoming, helpful, discreet, and attentive; they provide a very good start and continue with the standard. The food beautifully presented and clearly freshly prepared; it was a very fulfilling experience. I was a guest, so I did not know the cost or of other facilities at the restaurant. I hope it remains unspoilt by the masses!”
“We visit here with our relatives and for special occasions. The food is out of this world. You cannot fault the choice of food which is all locally sourced and beutifully prepared. They add those extra touches for a Birthday or Anniversary if mentioned at the time of booking. The food is worth every penny and the service with a smile is always there with pleasant conversation. Do not miss this one if you want a nice unhurried, relaxing meal. We love to sit outside in the spring / summer enjoying a cool glass of wine admiring the garden.”
“Diana and co looked after our party for my mums 80th in great style. great venue for a do like this. We had a party of 16 and had one of the two main restaurant rooms for ourselves. Excellent food and service and a very reasonable price. We have used the restaurant on a number of occasions and it has always delivered.”
“Two rooms set aside for dining in a large old Cotswold house -beautifully decorated for Christmas -roaring log fire and a very cosy ambience. The 3 course lunch was excellent with large platters, as one of the starter choices with several selections for main courses including vegetarian choice, the home made pudding selection is tempting to have them all! If you like old fashioned service and style then try but you will have to book at busy periods.”
“A family run dining experience that is certainly different from the moment you enter this old Victorian former rectory. You will be greeted by Diana, wife of the London trained chef and shown to your dining table resplendent in linen table cloth, napkins, good quality cutlery, china and glassware. Freshly made melba toast and local high quality bread awaits your pleasure whilst reviewing the interesting and varied menu. Food is all freshly prepared to order, extensive variety of vegetables and a large selection of home made puds complete the enjoyment of the visit. This venue is perfect for small parties where for a group of up to twenty you can have exclusive use of one of the dining rooms.”
“This little gem is a few miles from Cheltenham, at Colesbourne. The decor in the two dining rooms is in keeping with the lovely building. The food is all home cooked and the vegetables sourced locally. The restaurant is licensed. You can be sure of a warm welcome and a great meal either for lunch, dinner or you can book for a special occasion. We have been several times and the standard never varies from excellent.”
“Wonderful local produce and fresh vegetables. Excellent service in a friendly atmosphere . Able to deal with different dietary requirements. One of the best restaurants that I have visited in or around Cheltenham. Having dined there for the three years they have run the restaurant and never had a bad meal. Many friends we have taken are now regulars”
